Appointments (may be made beginning JULY 19th):
Call Robert Carr, NJTA Director of Programs & Services, at 973/731-6582 x15 between 12 Noon and 4 PM, M-F beginning JULY 19th. Appointment-making deadline: Friday, August 13 at 4 PM†. Please call the same number if you must cancel before audition day.
All AEA Members Welcome / NJ-Resident Priority:
- From July 19 – 30, appointments will be taken from NJ-resident Equity Members only. To qualify
for this privilege, the Member’s primary residence, as registered with Equity, must be in New Jersey.
- Beginning August 2, appointments will be taken from any Equity Member, regardless of the
Member’s state of residence. Non-NJ-residents who call before this date will be asked to call back.
- †AEA Members unable to make an appointment may be signed up on audition day on the Alternate
List (see “Modified EPA Format”) below.
- For this Equity day, phone appointments will be taken from AEA Members only. For EMCs and other
non-AEA performers, standard NYC EPA policies apply:
- EMCs receive priority over other non-Equity if they sign up with the AEA Monitor prior to 2 PM.
- A waiting list will be posted for non-EMC non-Equity actors.
- If Equity attendance is high, it is possible that no non-AEA actor, including EMCs, will be seen.
*Modified NYC EPA Format:
- †Equity Monitors will arrive by 9 AM, and will begin taking names for the Equity Alternate List and
EMC List. A non-Equity list will also be posted.
- All Members must bring their paid-up Equity cards to the audition, even if they have made
appointments by phone. Equity Monitors can make no exceptions to this rule.
- Due to the large number of photo/resumes that must be collated, you must check in with the
Equity Monitors at least 15 minutes before your time-slot (rather than the standard 10
minutes) – even if you made your appointment by phone – or your slot will go to an Alternate.
Preparation:
Please prepare EITHER A) A brief monologue (not to exceed two minutes) OR B) A brief song (not to exceed two minutes) OR C) 16 bars of a song and a one-minute monologue. If singing, bring sheet music; accompanist provided all day.
Important:
You must bring a minimum of thirty (30) stapled-together photo/resumes. In pencil, number the resume sides of each stapled set from 1 through 30, in the top right-hand corner. Any photo/resumes that are not kept by Theatre personnel will be returned to you for re-use.
Further information:
Some participating Theatres will be partially fulfilling Equity audition requirements by attending these auditions. Those Theatres will announce their seasons and available roles with addenda to this notice; check back for this important added information.
