2015 Giving Tuesday

New Jersey Theatre Alliance's #GivingTuesday 2015 Initiative

Following the warmth of Thanksgiving, and preceding the holiday season and new year, #GivingTuesday was developed to give people all over the world an opportunity to have a day dedicated to giving thanks and supporting causes that enrich our lives and the lives of others.

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Enabling People to Experience Theatre in All Stages of Life.

This year, New Jersey Theatre Alliance's #GivingTuesday initiative is to highlight and raise funds for one of our signature programs, The Stages Festival.

The purpose of the Stages Festival is to break down geographic and financial barriers to theatre. It offers free and discounted public performances, workshops, play readings, and behind-the-scenes events for all ages throughout New Jersey during the month of March.

Events are presented by our professional Equity theatres; some take place at their theatres, others in libraries, community centers, performing arts houses, senior centers, hospitals, and other places where people gather.

In honor of our 19th year, we have a goal to raise $1,900 for the 2016 Stages Festival.

Here are what some past Stages attendees shared about their experience:

"I believe it's important to expose our children to the arts for both the social and educational benefits and the Stages Festival helps make this possible at an affordable cost."

"This performance generated a feeling of a shared experience especially with the post-show talk back."

"I loved going to see plays when I was a child, and now on a limited budget, I'm delighted the Stages Festival enabled me to share this experience with my grandchild."

"Stages Festival provides an introduction to theatre for people who may be interested but not able to afford it."

"Stages Festival brings happiness to children and encourages them to use their imagination in a positive way."
