New Jersey Theatre Alliance celebrated the professional theatre community in early November at our annual Curtain Call event.
The program portion of the evening kicked off with presenting Natalie S. Watson, Esq. with our Star Award for her outstanding dedication and leadership as the Alliance's Board President for the past six years.
Premiere Stages at Kean University was presented with an Award of Excellence for 10 years of teaching the craft of playwriting and bringing new works to life on stage.
Premiere Stages shared two short scenes highlighting their partnership with Matheny Medical and Educational Center's Arts Access Program.
Luna Stage Company received an Award of Excellence for 23 years of thought-provoking theatre and five years of serving as the anchor organization of the Valley Arts District.
Luna Stage Company performed "Superior" from their production Thrill Me: The Leopold & Loeb Story.
Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre were recipients of an Award of Excellence for 20 years of community-building through the work and dedication of a professional ensemble.
Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre concluded the program with a "speed dating" style improv sketch featuring their troupe, Multiple Personality Disorder.
We were thrilled to have our 2015 "Why New Jersey Theatre" winner, Gerda Bikales in attendance along with her husband, Norbert. Gerda shared her winning answer with the crowd, which was:
"Who needs to schlep to New York, waste gas, fight traffic, pay tolls, worry about parking, and go broke in the process when there is darn good, professional, affordable theater to be had close to home?"
