Robert Carr Honored by The Kennedy Center
On August 6th, New Jersey Theatre Alliance Director of Programs and Services/ADA Coordinator Robert Carr was one of three people nationwide to be awarded the 2014 LEAD Community Asset Award at the 14th annual Kennedy Center Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability (LEAD) Conference in Chicago. Carr was recognized for his consistent leadership in making theatres, arts organizations, and cultural organizations throughout New Jersey accessible to people with disabilities. We all know that Bob helps theatres with their accessibility plans in many ways, but the one project that was highlighted on his nomination form was his complete redesign of the method of collection, distribution, and evaluation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) plan requirement for New Jersey State Council of the Arts grantees. Because of Bob’s work, New Jersey arts and cultural organizations are led through a comprehensive step-by-step online form which ensures all ADA requirements are fulfilled, and produces a standardized plan, making it easy for organizations to complete and evaluators to read. Congratulations, Bob!
