Women of Ireland
Get in the spirit for St. Patrick’s Day with the spellbinding talents of some of Ireland’s finest female vocalists, musicians and stepdancers as they celebrate Irish heritage and its rich tradition of song and dance.
From walking red carpets with Tom Cruise and Miley Cyrus, to singing for the American troops and Hilary Clinton, From recording a song with Wil.I.Am, to performing at the infamous Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, From hanging out in studios with Bruno Mars, to writing the 2009 Vanity Fair Oscar party song, “The O’Neill Sisters”, three siblings from County Kerry Ireland have lived the life dreams are made of. And after having traveled around the world, performing on international stages and picking up a lot of songwriting tips and material along their journey, they have made their way back to the place they love most of all...home.
As a second generation singing sister group (their mom and Aunts were a group in the 70’s) growing up in a remote part of southwest Ireland, proved to be an inspiring backdrop for the girls and the rainy Kerry days nurtured their creativity and love for music from a young age. With endless music, dance and theatre classes, and countless hours spent in a local studio learning how to record and write songs and perfect harmonies, dreams bigger than their wellington boots weren’t long blossoming in their little minds.
And so in 2005 the sisters recorded an album of traditional Irish songs that they released nationally, gaining them much exposure in magazines, and on television and radio, which led to opportunities to perform on stage with big Irish and U.K Pop Acts and invitations to perform for political events in the USA.
The invitations to America subsequently led to a move for the girls, where they spent a few years living in New York And Los Angeles, living the life of their dreams, working and writing with big named songwriters and producers, walking red carpets, filming pilot reality shows and having their song chosen as the Oscar Vanity Fair After Party theme song.
But all the high flying, and even the brightest lights of Hollywood couldn’t keep the three sisters from longing for their country home. They wanted more than anything to feel the peace of Kerry life, and so they packed their bags and flew back earlier this year. And despite returning to what seemed a different Ireland from the one they had left, the magic that has always been in it’s countryside that never fails to inspire a creative soul was still very much alive, and the sisters, happy to be back among it again, set about penning and recording a new album of original material, which they finished in a mere thirteen days this Summer in a studio overlooking the Killarney Lakes.
