McCarter Theatre Center is accepting applications for the position of Stage Technician. The successful candidate will join the 10-person Stage Operations team in providing exceptional backstage support for McCarter’s varied programming. Applicants should have the ability to read and understand technical drawings, sound, and lighting plots; and demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard computer programs. Competency with Video Projection equipment - installation, programming, troubleshooting – is a definite plus; working knowledge of sound and lighting are also necessary.
Responsibilities include working load-ins, strikes, technical rehearsals, and running shows as assigned. The ideal candidate will be a strategic problem solver; possess strong organizational and communication skills; work collaboratively as a team member; and be committed to maintaining safe working practices. Other duties include equipment maintenance, and assisting with stage operations projects as assigned. Position requirements include the ability to lift and maneuver up to 75 pounds, to climb and work on ladders/lifts at elevations up to 70 feet, and the ability to drive vans and box trucks (valid driver’s license). The Stage Technician reports to the Stage Supervisor. Full-time seasonal employment regularly runs mid-August to June.
Base salary of $820/week plus overtime. Benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid vacation, sick and personal time, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and a 403 (b) retirement plan.
