For its second annual Theatre for Families and Young Audiences production, Passage Theatre is producing a script-in-hand performance of TEACHING DISCO SQUARE DANCING TO OUR ELDERS: A CLASS PRESENTATION by Larissa FastHorse. The show follows three Lakota teenagers as they navigate tough subjects, both at school and at home. Best friends Kenny Two Hawks and Martin Leads to Water, plus outsider Amanda Smith, have all received unusual topics for their final 8th grade presentations. With Kenny on the brink of not making it into high school, Martin flummoxed by where to start on “Teaching Square Dancing to Senior Citizens,” and Amanda in need of an elder to interview who shares her Lakota heritage, the three teens must band together to make their presentations a success.
This play is suitable for ages 10 and above.
