2024 Combined Auditions

About the 2024 Combined Auditions

New Jersey Theatre Alliance (The Alliance), the service organization for the state and region’s 43 professional theatres, will hold auditions in Enlow Recital Hall on the campus of Kean University in Hillside, NJ on Monday, March 18 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM for Equity performers, and Tuesday, March 19 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM for Non-Equity performers. This is a fantastic opportunity to be seen by multiple theatres at once. Representatives from our member theatres will follow up with actors directly if they are interested in working with them.

PLEASE NOTE: We will have a confirmed list of participating theatres a few weeks before the auditions.

The address for Enlow Recital Hall is 215 North Avenue, Hillside, NJ 07205.

DIRECTIONS

NON-EQUITY UPDATE: We are no longer accepting non-equity registrations.

EQUITY UPDATE: Equity registrations are on a first-come, first-service basis. At this time, any additional registrations will be put on the waitlist. Registration officially closes on MONDAY, MARCH 11TH.

Submission Information

Please read carefully; because of the high volume of entries, failure to follow instructions will cause your entry to be rejected.

At registration, NJTA will require you to submit your headshot and resume digitally in advance of your audition. Headshots and resumes will be placed in a virtual book that will be distributed to theatre representatives attending.

*To defray the cost of producing this event, NON-EQUITY ACTORS will pay a $25 fee to participate.

NOTICE FOR EQUITY ACTORS: Equity Actors have the option of informing us what time of the day they would like to audition. We do not guarantee that you will receive your preferred time, but we will make every effort to honor your request. Full instructions will be included in the registration form.

Due to the high volume of entries, a lottery process is in effect for Non-Equity Actors. EMC is considered Non-Equity

To register, follow the rules and procedures below:

  • If given an audition slot, you will be notified by email no later than March 12, 2024
  • Payment instructions (if applicable) will be included with your acceptance notification

All of New Jersey’s professional theatres are equal opportunity employers. Actors of color and actors with disabilities are encouraged to submit. Actors based in New Jersey or with access to New Jersey housing are particularly encouraged to submit.

What to Prepare

EQUITY Actors have 5 minutes. NON-EQUITY Actors have 3 minutes. Two contrasting monologues are preferred: one contemporary, one classic; one comedic, one dramatic. You can also perform one monologue if it represents you best. Alternatively, actors may choose to deliver one monologue and a 32-bar cut of a song if singing. Please indicate on your registration form if you intend to sing.

About the Combined Auditions

Every year, over two days, we hold auditions for 120 Equity and 120 Non-Equity performers. Member theatres interested in seeking new local talent for their upcoming seasons attend.

Registration opens online, and due to a high volume of responses, audition slots are chosen through a lottery system. This is a fantastic opportunity to be seen by multiple theatres at once. Representatives from our member theatres will follow up with performers directly if they are interested in working with them.

Please note: Not all of our member theatres participate in these auditions, and we will not have a confirmed list of participating theatres until about a week before the auditions.
