Paper Mill Playhouse (Millburn, New Jersey), a not-for-profit arts organization under the direction of Mark S. Hoebee (Producing Artistic Director) and recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is one of the country's leading regional theaters. A pioneer in the not-for-profit regional theater movement, Paper Mill Playhouse opened its doors in 1938 and has been recognized throughout the industry for the artistry of its productions and commitment to supporting the development of new works and emerging artists. A nationally recognized center for musical theater education and performance, its award-winning arts education, artist training, and outreach programs impact thousands of students each year. Paper Mill productions have moved to Broadway, toured nationally, been filmed for Showtime, PBS and produced original cast recordings. Paper Mill Playhouse earned New Jersey fame by creating such national tours as Little House on the Prairie: The Musical, The 25th Anniversary Production of Les Miserables, The Bodyguard and Happy Days: The Musical. Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of Disney’s Newsies moved directly to Broadway, winning two Tony Awards and remained at the top of the sales charts for Broadway for two years.
