Pushcart Players is the award-winning professional theater and arts-in-education company for young audiences. Since its founding in 1974, Pushcart has traveled over 2 million miles nationally and abroad, from the little red school house to White House. Nominated twice for an Emmy©, the organization is the recipient of numerous state and private accolades for excellence and innovation. Pushcart Players’ productions address social studies, literature, history, the autism spectrum, special educational needs, social emotional learning, and values clarification. All performances by professional artists (Actors’ Equity Association) are supported by study guides and other supplemental materials, and adapt to any location with innovative scenery, lighting, and sound systems. Celebrating our 50th anniversary, we are excited to offer you our 2024-2025 Season! This season is chock-full of productions and programs, offering some classic favorites, as well as some newer shows.

      Algonquin Arts Theatre does provide handicap accessible restrooms.
    • Assistive Listening

      Algonquin Arts Theatre provides a limited number of complimentary assistive listening device headsets to to people who are hearing impaired. Present a valid driver's license or credit card at the concession stand as a deposit in exchange for the device. Please note that due to the size of our theatre, some plays and musicals do not use amplification.
    • Audience Accessibility Services

      LARGE PRINT PROGRAMS: For events with playbills, large-print programs are available. To avoid waste, large-print playbills will be created on demand. Please contact the box office at 732-528-9211 more than 48 hours prior to a performance and we will hold it behind our concession counter for you. On the day of a show, we will make every attempt to create a large-print program. Please request a program from an usher and one will be delivered to your seat as quickly as it can be created. SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION: Algonquin Arts Theatre seeks to make the arts accessible to everyone. If you have a special request, please contact our box office and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. WALKERS: Ushers will assist those with walkers to their seat. Walkers must be stored in the lobby until requested at intermission or the conclusion of the performance.
    • Number of Wheelchair-Only Seating Locations

      Algonquin Arts Theatre currently provides six wheelchair positions available for patrons. Seating is available for purchase online or from the box office. There are also four seats with moveable arms that allow for easier transfer from a wheelchair. If a patron is able to transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, ushers will store the wheelchair in the lobby.

      RCCA will provide assistive services such as sign language interpreting, audio description, and closed captioning upon request. Also upon request, publications can be made available in alternative formats such as Braille, Large Print, and/or computer disc.     • Accessible Parking

      Parking for the Levoy Theatre is public parking along High Street and on side streets. There are also a series of nearby surface parking lots along Buck Street directly behind the theater. There are designated handicapped spaces directly behind the theater on Buck Street and throughout the Arts District. You may also discharge passengers where allowed near the Levoy prior to parking.

      Handicap accessible facilities are available on both the orchestra and mezzanine levels.
    • Assistive Listening

      Assisted listening devices are available at the concessions counter on a first-come, first-served basis; quantities are limited.
    • Audience Accessibility Services

      Registered service animals are always welcomed into The Levoy Theatre.
    • Elevator Access

      Elevator access is provided so all patrons can utilize both orchestra and mezzanine seating.
    • Wheelchair Accessibility

      Both our orchestra and mezzanine level seating are handicap accessible and we offer wheelchair seating and wheelchair companion seating on both levels. The Levoy Theatre is highly accessible to persons with disabilities. Please speak to our Box Office staff by phone at 856-327-6400 prior to making your ticket purchase. Let our staff know your special needs so we can best assist you.
  • PAPER MILL PLAYHOUSE

    • Accessible Parking

      Designated accessible parking spaces are located in Parking Lot A and E. Lot A is situated at the rear of the building and accessible to the front entrance via the brick courtyard to the side of the building. Lot E is next to the courtyard at the front entrance of the building. Parking Lot C also provides a level route to the theater entrance and may be utilized for accessible parking, though no spaces are officially designated as such, and patrons must cross Brookside Drive to reach the front of the theater from this parking lot.
    • Accessible Restrooms

      Restrooms in the lower and upper lobbies are wheelchair accessible. The upper lobby can be accessed via elevator. Additional men and women’s restrooms are located on the second floor, to the left of the elevator.
    • Assistive Listening

      Assistive listening devices are available for patrons who are hard of hearing to assist with amplification and clarity of the performance. Headsets and devices, cleaned between each performance, may be obtained at the access services window of the box office in the lower lobby. A name and phone number are required to check out the devices. Due to high demand, it is recommended patrons who intend to utilize an assistive listening device arrive at least 45 minutes prior to curtain.
    • Audience Accessibility Services

      BRAILLE & LARGE PRINT PROGRAMS: A limited number of these programs are available for patrons who are blind or have low vision. Programs may be obtained from the access services window of the box office in the lower lobby. ASL INTERPRETED PERFORMANCES: Scheduled ASL-interpreted performances are offered for Mainstage productions. With the assistance of an advisory board composed of both Deaf and hearing members, Paper Mill Playhouse hires trained theatrical interpreters for these performances. Discount tickets are available to patrons using this service. AUDIO-DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES: Audio description for patrons who are blind or have low vision is available for each Mainstage production. Using an earpiece attached to a small, hand-size transistor, patrons can hear a live, objective, and concise description of the action on stage in between dialogue and/or music. OPEN-CAPTIONED PERFORMANCES: Scheduled open-captioned performances are offered for every Mainstage production. A large digital screen that projects dialogue as the action occurs live on stage is placed on the edge of the stage on the left side of the auditorium. AUTISM FRIENDLY PERFORMANCES: Autism-friendly performances are theater experiences in which the environment and typical “rules of attendance” have been relaxed to accommodate individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities and the families and professionals who support them. SERVICE DOGS: Service dogs are defined as any certified dog which helps with performing a function for a person that is limited by a disability; the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires they be admitted in the theater.
    • Elevator Access

      An elevator provides patrons with access to the lower lobby, upper lobby, lower gallery, upper gallery. The entrance to the orchestra level of the auditorium is located on the upper lobby level.
    • Number of Wheelchair-Only Seating Locations

      There are no steps required to reach any row in the orchestra level. Free-standing chairs are located in the last row of the left- and right-side sections that are designated for patrons in wheelchairs or with other mobility disabilities and their companions. Please Note: Seats WC-10 and WC-9 are considered companion-only seating. These specific free-standing chairs are in front of columns and are not wheelchair accessible. The following seats in the orchestra are also designated as transfer seats for patrons in wheelchairs, where the outer armrest is removable to allow patrons to transfer: Row X - Seats 1, 2, 101, 114; Row J - Seats 1, 2, 101, 114; Row D - Seats 11, 12; Row S - Seats 27, 28

      Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) are available at performances that utilize the audio system. ALDs can be used free of charge, the Box Office will however ask that a driver’s license or other identification be left as a deposit.
    • Audience Accessibility Services

      AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE: American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available upon request. Requests must be made through Audience Services at least two weeks prior to a performance. AUDIO DESCRIPTION: An audio description of theatre performances are available on occasion. Patrons with vision loss may request an earpiece attached to a hand-held transistor and listen to a live, objective and concise description of the action on stage, in between dialogue and/or music. Reserve an earpiece by contacting Audience Services. BRAILLE SIGNAGE: Braille signage is in place throughout the building. LARGE PRINT PROGRAMS: Large print programs are available at SOPAC-presented performances. SERVICE ANIMALS: Registered service animals assisting persons with disabilities are permitted in the SOPAC Theatre. Please contact Audience Services if you are attending an event with a service animal.
    • Elevator Access

      Elevators provide patrons access to all floors, which include the SOPAC Theatre, The Herb & Milly Iris Gallery on the second floor, as well as the SOPAC Loft on the third floor.
    • Wheelchair Accessibility

      Accessible seating is located on the Orchestra level. These seats are designated as such when purchasing tickets online. Tickets for accessible seats may be purchased online, via phone, or in person. If a member of your party is in a wheelchair please let us know if the chair is oversized, has any special equipment (i.e.: oxygen tank) or whether the party member can transfer from the chair to a theatre seat.

Education Offerings

Rooted in the belief that the arts are an inseparable part of the human journey and an essential component of the educational process, Pushcart Players develops intriguing, enriching, and enlightening arts experiences. From an individual workshop to a long term residency, Pushcart makes arts education come alive with uniquely designed programs to meet your needs.

DRAMA WORKSHOPS

Drama Workshops are designed to meet the specific needs and interests of all students. Curriculum consists of theater exercises and games, storytelling activities, and improvisation to build confidence, promote self-awareness, and team-building.

Young actors will develop vocal skills and stage presence through monologue and scene study. Focus, listening, and collaboration will be enhanced by the principles of acting. Workshops culminate in a performance designed to celebrate each young actor’s arts learning journey.

Pushcart Players’ workshops are geared for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Pushcart is culturally aware and responsive to the equity, diversity, and inclusion needs and progress of each community.

PUSHCART JR.

Pushcart Junior is an after-school and camp program where young performers learn all about theater by doing it. Pushcart’s scripts are adapted for large casts of any size as well as junior versions of Broadway and other well known titles. These programs are guided by professional directors/teaching artists. Pushcart Junior ranges from six to eight weeks, and is adaptable for most schools/camp schedules.

TITLE 1 SCHOOL ARTS INTEGRATION PROGRAMS

Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act provides federal funds to schools serving economically disadvantaged students and has four goals: improving student achievement, increasing student engagement, increasing parent engagement, and improving school climate and culture. Pushcart customizes programming that will serve as a model in using the arts to improve your school.

ADA & EXCEPTIONAL AUDIENCES

Pushcart Players offers a variety of on-school-time programs for special needs populations to make theater education and participation accessible to everyone.  Teaching artists work closely with educators and caregivers to tailor a project that meets the talents and interests of students in an inclusive environment. With sensitivity and skill, Pushcart opens the door for students to experience the benefits and joy of active engagement in theater.
