RECIPROCAL COMP PROGRAM

Reciprocal Comp Program Overview
As a benefit of Alliance membership, full-time and part-time staff, including interns/apprentices, from member theatres of the Alliance are entitled to complimentary tickets at all other member theatres. Contract workers (including actors, designers, and stage managers), vendors, volunteers, and trustees are not eligible to participate in this program.
Restrictions may be implemented by each theatre regarding:
- The number of comps available per show, per person (usually 1 or 2)
- The specific dates or days of the week when reciprocal comps may be used (for example, only during previews or only on weeknights).
- Certain productions that are not eligible for the program (for example, a holiday show that is projected to sell out)
- Whether they require proof of employment at a member theatre (for example, a current theatre email address, URL where their name appears on a theatre staff list, or other form of documentation)
Reciprocal comps may not be reserved online. Individuals should call the box office of the theatre where they hope to attend. We recommend calling early in the run of a show in case comps are limited to previews.
If a box office receives a call from someone from a theatre with which they are unfamiliar, they can easily check whether that theatre is a member of the Alliance.
This program is not publicly advertised outside of the Alliance membership and operates on the honor system. We recommend sharing the information about this benefit with all current staff as well as with any new staff during the onboarding process.
The Alliance does our best to maintain accurate records of all theatre staff, but our records are only as up-to-date as the information submitted to us by members. We believe the honor system will be a smoother process for your box office staff and it is unlikely that people outside of member theatres will try to take advantage of this program. We will re-assess in FY24 to see whether we need to add more restrictions or administrative processes to the program.
