Equity & Access 101: An Introductory Gathering

This session is a great introduction or refresher for key concepts, terms, and concepts related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Facilitated by Deonté Griffin-Quick, Erica Nagel, and Kayla Kim Votapek, this gathering is specifically designed for those who are just beginning their journey with this work, or who feel the need to review the basics in a brave, judgment-free virtual space.
Hiring and Onboarding with an Equity Framework

Building on last year’s successful introduction to HR workshop, this session will dig deeper into equitable hiring, onboarding, and employee retention strategies. The gathering will feature HR expert, Diane Parker, as well as case studies from colleagues in the New Jersey Arts community.
Maintaining Hope in the Work of Social Justice

This session will focus on strategies for tapping into hope and optimism while working for change in a troubled world. Facilitated by Tia James, from Playmakers Rep, and Megan Sandberg-Zakian, author of There Must Be Happy Endings: Toward A Theatre of Honesty and Optimism, this interactive virtual gathering will offer inspiration, camaraderie, and connection.
Decolonization and the Arts

What is decolonization? How can the arts become a decolonized field? Nationally-known leaders in this work, Groundwater Arts, will facilitate this roundtable to get these conversations started in the New Jersey arts community.

These gatherings are open to Alliance Member Theatre Staff who identify with ANY of the following: 35 years old or younger, have been in the theatre/performing arts field for five years or less, recently transitioned into the arts from another sector, and/or are new to the New Jersey theatre community.

This gathering will include a special guest facilitator, Dr. Janet Oussaty leading a workshop on the below topic:
Janet is a retired university professor where she developed Beginner and Intermediate T’ai Chi Chih courses for academic credit as well as undergraduate and graduate Holistic Health Courses. In addition, Janet started the Holistic Center through the Office of Continuing Education. She is now founding owner and director of the Holistic Center for the Integration of Body, Mind and Spirit LLC, teaching courses and workshops in T’ai Chi Chih, Medical Qigong and White Light Reiki. She also offers private healing sessions.

Americans spend more than two hours a day on social media each and every day and the number of users on social platforms continues to climb, making it impossible to ignore social media for fundraising.
Join us and our colleagues from 360 Philanthropy Group as we explore how to engage and and build our donor base through social media and the importance of including social media in your fundraising plans.
